Simple pricing for cheaper pump power

You pay a small install fee and a fixed rate for solar energy. We pay for the equipment, permits, and maintenance. Your utility stays on as backup.

Your solar power rate

We sell you solar energy at one flat rate per kWh. No peak vs. off‑peak windows, no seasonal surprises. For most ranches we target 20–30% below your current all‑in pumping power cost.

Example: if you’re paying around $0.35/kWh today on your pump meter, your Farm & Sun solar rate would be around $0.25/kWh.

Install fee and 3‑year agreement

To keep upfront costs low, we ask for a simple 3‑year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the solar energy. Your solar rate stays fixed for the full term.

  • One‑time install & interconnection fee: typically around $1,000 per pump meter in our example projects.
  • We fund the rest: we cover the solar equipment, engineering, interconnection paperwork, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Limited‑time discount: for a small number of ranches we install before the next growing season, we’re offering 50% off the install fee.

Example: 300‑acre nut ranch, Central Valley

Ranch: 300 irrigated acres of nuts.

Pumping today: about 270,000 kWh/year of pump energy.

Current power bill: at $0.35/kWh all‑in from the utility, that’s about $94,500/year in pumping power costs.

With Farm & Sun:

We size solar so roughly 60% of pump kWh come from solar at $0.25/kWh, and the remaining 40% stay on your utility at $0.35/kWh.

  • Solar bill: 162,000 kWh × $0.25 = $40,500/year
  • Utility bill (after solar): 108,000 kWh × $0.35 = $37,800/year

New total: about $78,300/year, or roughly $261/acre‑year

That’s $16,200/year saved – about $54/acre‑year – with no equipment capital outlay.
